I know November has become the month to create a Gratitude journal but I would encourage you to start today and don't stop after November. Keep it going all year long. My favorite crafty time right now is my daily scripture writing. I use my planner from Dayspring and have tried different plans I've found on the internet. This month when I saw the Word Nerd kit from Illustrated Faith I knew I wanted to incorporate it into my daily scripture writing.
I fell in love with this little girl silhouette with her messy bun and knew that's where I would start. I decided to add some patterned paper and decorate one whole page to really show her off. I'm taking scriptures from the weekly prompts and journal cards to study then pick ones I want to write and really meditate on.
It's so important to get into the word and let it take root in our hearts so the holy spirit can bring it to our remembrance when we need it. Life can get busy and circumstances can spin out of control at a moments notice. At that point it's really if you don't have the word rooted in your heart to draw from.
I know now that I'm working full time and a crazy amount of hours that life can become so busy that its easy to let our study of the word to slide but I urge you to make it a priority. I can't tell yu how many times situations have come up at work and I've had a word come up from my spirit to speak peace to the situation or give me wisdom I need to work out a problem I'm facing. Jesus will stick closer than any friend or relative and is always there to comfort and guide us if we're living in his word and know his voice. If you're not taking the time to spend with him you'll not recognize his voice when he speaks.
If you haven't tried daily scripture writing I encourage you to try it. It's amazing how much you soak up by dwelling in the word and then writing it out. I also love having a theme all documented out and can quickly go back to a month for encouragement.

Here's a look at my first entry for week 1. I used the devotion card as my inspiration.
I'm back with my first entry for the new Illustrated Faith Persevere kit. I'm loving the new format and think you will too. The weekly cards are really helping me to really delve into the scripture more and not get overwhelmed with the decorating part. I love to keep things simple and with the beautiful artwork provided in the kits it's easy to do just that and still have fabulous entries.
The small notecard from Shanna Noel is one of my favorite ways to start in on a new kit. I added it to the page with a bit of the washi from the kit and then added one of the new diecuts on top. Don't you just adore the diecuts and all that gold foiling? Gorgeous!!
The new washi stickers are a lot of fun. At first I wasn't sure about the tabs but I think I'm going to love them. They're strong but very flexible and light weight so easier on the pages. I don't think they'll put stress on the pages like the cardstock ones will. I'll keep you posted.

After last months Rise Up devotional I didn't know how it could get any better BUT it has!! Rise Up really spoke to my heart and where I'm at in my life and faith walk right now and it led me to trying something new. I found the website www.swtblessings.com and a daily scripture writing. June's topic is Who I am in Christ. I've been really concentrating on these scripture and speaking who God says I am each day. Imagine my delight when I opened this months kit and the title I Am just jumped out at me.
This months devotion I Am is written and designed my Melisa Garcia from Pie 'N the Sky. She writes a little intro that says it better than I could ever try as to what I've been learning and what you'll learn working through this 2 week devotion.

What perfect timing for me! I know we all struggle with who we are and what plan God has for our lives but we must first know the Creator of us and then it will be easy to know who we are because we've been created in His image and likeness.

This year has been one of growth and stepping out of my comfort zone for me and God has brought me so far. This kit is going to cause me to really reflect and go deeper. There are so many different ways you can journal your faith from just documenting in the devotion that comes in the kit each month, a journal, or a journaling Bible. I love to do all three but most of the time it goes into my Bible. I like to keep my text clean and unobstructed so I can use it as my study Bible and be constantly reminded of all that God is doing in my life and how I'm growing in Him.
This day I decided to flip the tip in over and decorate what is normally the backside so I could really journal and pour my heart out on the backside. It keeps it a little more private but it's there to share for anyone that wants to read about my journey. The cut aparts, stamps, and sticker are all I needed to really jazz it up.
Growing up I was the youngest of 6 kids raised by a single mom. Our life was not on a good track but thanks to a Godly neighbor woman that took my mom under her wing our lives were all dramatically changed. Starting with one woman that wasn't afraid to let her light shine and spill over into the world around her. I will be forever grateful for her and her family and the faith they walked out in front of us.
I'm quite the introvert and love to stay in my own little world but God has really been pushing me out of my comfort zone this year. Going back to school this year has put me right smack dab in the middle of a great group of people but all very different from my little world. It's been exciting to grow and know I don't have to be a preacher on the corner but just living my life, loving on them, and letting my light shine gave me many opportunities to plant seeds in each of their lives. I wasn't always at my best but I have faith that God's love showed through and that it showed them we all mess up but He still loves us anyways. His grace and mercy are new each and every day.
I pray that I planted seeds deep within them and that God will continue to send people across their paths to complete what He's started in each of their hearts. I also pray that He continues to work in my life helping me to grow and shine brightly for Him. I pray that for each of you too.

I'm always so excited to see what's in the newest kits from Illustrated Faith and they never disappoint. This months Doodles To Live By totally rocks!! The devotion is touching my heart in a big way this month as my family and I are going through so many transitions right now.
Changes in life always bring questions. What does God have for me and what direction am I supposed to go. Change also brings a great time to learn to turn things you can't control over to the One that can and to just simply trust. This month Elaine Davis is bringing her awesome illustrations to life through the devotional she wrote. It is gripping my heart and encouraging me to write my story which of course is His story. First I need to search my heart for who I am and who He has created me to be then I can go out and reach others with it.
Have you taken the time to write your story? Do you struggle resting in His promises and instead of worrying or keeping yourself so busy instead of just trusting in Him? I think we all struggle the same issues maybe at different levels in different seasons of our lives but we can all do better at carving out time for Him first before we let life consume us. I could not wait to dig in to this months devotional. As a family we are facing a lot of things in our life that is trying at times and this devotion has really spoken to my heart. Once I got started it was hard to stop. I know right now I've prayed for direction and just wish God would give me the steps to take but reading through Genesis and Noah I wonder could I ever have that kind of faith even with the exact steps. I think sometimes I need to remind myself that He's not given me detailed steps because i don't need them to trust that He's working all things for my good.
When I got to Abraham I couldn't stop. I journaled several verses and pages because so much was speaking to my heart. Why is it so hard to believe that God has so much more for us than we can even imagine for ourselves. This devotion is really teaching me to open my heart more to receive all that God has for me.
To wait on Him for His abundant blessing in my life. How many times have I tried to help God along with His plan for my life or tried to manipulate situations. I may get what I want but it's NOT God's best for me or His plan but he's always there to make things right again when I mess it all up.

Today is one exciting day!! Dayspring is adding over 100 New Bible Journaling goodies in the Illustrated Faith shop!!!!!! How exciting is that?! Hang on tight and take a look at one of the collections I'm sharing with you and an entry I did in my Bible with it and then go do some shopping!!
I was blessed enough to get some of the Delight in His Day collection and couldn't wait to dig in.
This first video is going to give you a close up look at the collection.
When I saw this clear cut I couldn't help but sing the song we all know so well from growing up 'If you're happy and you know it then your face will surely show it'. LOL Now you'll be singing it all day too. I used some washi tape from a past kit to adhere the clear cut into the center of my Bible. Then I used some alpha stickers, rub ons, and the Delight in HIs Day stamp set to add my little song into the margins.
Sometimes I can be too serious and it usually shows up on my face so hopefully this will be a good reminder for me to smile and show that 'A glad hearts make a cheerful face' Proverbs 15:13.
