Daddy's Helper Layout & Process Video

I'm back today with another layout using my November Paper Camellia kit. This may be my favorite so far but I think I say that each time. LOL

I did this layout for the 50 Moments challenge a group of ladies and I are doing. It's all about getting the stories down and not just the event. While I could tell the story of our never ending remodel of our house these pictures are so much more to me. They remind me of how my daughter was always right beside her daddy helping and how much she enjoyed just being with him. She's very much a daddy's girl and very much like him.

I used the squirrel and added the little heart to symbolize her love of animals and their love for her.

The 3x4 cut apart card was perfect to use as part of the title for this page. She's always up for the adventure as long as someones with her. LOL

When I opened my kit and saw this little house I knew I wanted to include it with these pictures. It took a little adjusting to fit it all in but I love how it worked out. The little dear has been in my stash and again I included it to symbolize another personality of my daughter I cherish.

Exit 353 with Process Video

This was such a fun layout to work on and not just because of all the yumminess in the photos. I started with the sketch for this weeks Nuts About Sketches. Be sure to check it out and create your own layout with this weeks sketch. Share a link here when you do and I'll be sure to check it out.

I'm often asked about my process and how I start a page so I decided to try and do a process video. I had a lot of issues with technology so it's not all I wanted it to be but hopefully it will answer some of those questions for you. Be sure to let me know if you want to see more of these.

I used paper that was left after a few layouts. As you can see in the video I didn't even have a full sheet left but more than enough to do a layout. In fact I still have enough I think I could get one more layout.

I played around with the sketch and decided to cut around the hexagons in the patterned paper to do the background where the sketch showed a circle. Then I added some individual ones to the edges to create flow across the page. I stitched around some of them and across the ones at the top and bottom. Not a lot but it does give that extra texture, layer, and little extra pop.

Family Layout with Process Video

On my search for kits I found Back Porch Memories. They have a  wonderful looking kit and are having a sketch challenge for a guest design spot. I loved the sketch so decided to play along with it.

Instead of two small photos I used one larger one as well instead of a large circle behind the photos I chose to use the gold foil circular embellishment. I'm  really loving all the gold foil embellishments.

For the strip dividing the background I chose to use that camera strip I so carefully saved from my other layout.

I'm also submitting this for Jen's youtube 500 subscriber challenge of using punches. I used the notebook border punch. Be sure to hop over to her youtube channel and check her out.

I'm plugging right along with my Nov Paper Camellia kit and couldn't be more pleased with the layouts I've been able to create so far. I still have at least half the kit left to play with.

If you're enjoying the process videos I have another one at the end of this post for this layout. I really did piddle and move a lot of stuff around before committing on this one but in the end I love it!

Color My Heart #119

Today I'm here with this weeks Color My Heart Color Dare of Smokey Plum, Hollyhock, and Olive. Be sure to join us with your own creation and link it up at Color My Heart.

I stressed over this one for a while because if you follow my blog you know purple is not a color I use. thankfully Hollyhock was a part of the equation so I jumped on it. I had a great idea in my head but it just didn't work out like I thought so here is how it all panned out.


In the end I really like the card even with the purple. LOL I added lots of little sparkle and shine. I used this months Stamp of the Month It's the Little Things. You can pick it up for just $5 with your $50 order this month.

I got the design and pattern from the Wishes card book. You can find the pattern and cutting instructions of pg. 59. It's the All Stacked Up pattern. If you haven't tried the pattern books by CTMH they're fabulous. They give all the cutting instructions and sizes as well as color samples.

Happy Together - Paper Camellia Kit

I recently shared the Paper Camellia Kit Club I've subscribed to and promised I'd try to share all the layouts I created from it. I'm happy to share the first one. I used the Creative Scrappers Sketch #281 as my starting point.

I tried videoing my process again and since my flip camera gave me such issues I decided to try filming with my iPhone since I've heard several others do. Not happy with it. It came out very jerky so I apologize. I started to not even post it but decided you could decide for yourself whether you want to watch or not. LOL I'll be going back to my flip and asking Santa for a new camera.

Love This Guy - Paper Camellia Kit

I am loving my Paper Camellia Kit. This is the 2nd layout I completed and it went together fairly quickly especially for me. I've added a few things from my stash and I think just having those few things out is helping cut down all the time I spend hunting for that perfect embellishment, etc.

This layout uses a sketch from Page Maps and I'm entering it over at scrapbook.com for a sketch challenge. I'm also doing it for one of my layouts for the 50 Moments book that a group of us ladies are doing on a message board i belong too. I love scrapping the stories and not just event after event. I know my family will cherish these layouts with my words from the heart.

I did another process video for this one. It's really pushing me to move it along and not dottle over ever little thing. I hope you're enjoying them too.

Are Kit Clubs for You?

I've been looking at joining a Scrap Kit Club for a while now and finally did it. I've been hesitant because I hadn't found one that I really loved. I mean I liked parts but there was always something that I probably wouldn't buy or use. It is so great that we have so many choices now. There's a choice for just about everyone out there now.

I didn't want to use my total scrapbooking budget for the month on one kit so that knocked a couple out. I didn't want stamps included. I have a lot of stamps already and the ones I don't I want to pick and purchase according to what I will get a lot of use out of. I also already have a lot of card stock so I really didn't want a kit that included a lot of CS. I love paper so I wanted a kit with similar tastes in my paper addiction. I also enjoy using an array of embellishments so I wanted to get a good sampling of embellishments and prefer to receive full packs not a sampling. I like some of the exclusive products that are offered in varying kits but didn't want a kit with primarily exclusive products because then I could never restock and sometimes admit it you want more of something.

With my agenda clearly defined I spent a day looking at a ton of kit clubs. I checked out the current month and if it fit most of my criteria I then looked at the previous kits to see if I liked them. If you like one out of three then that probably is not the kit for you. I also checked out their blogs to see if they had current posts with inspiration. I am one that still loves to go and read blogs and see what others are creating so it was important to me.

After a full day and I do mean a full day of perusing the internet I found what I think is going to be the perfect kit for me; Paper Camellia. I loved all of the kits I looked at. There were no stamps included. Its heavy on paper and embellishments and only includes a few sheets of card stock. One other thing I love too is if I really love the paper then I can add an add on of just the paper with no additional shipping which I can see happening often. Like this months it's so hard to decide on some of the paper which side I want to use. They also have add ons for more embellishments.

I'll be sharing all of the layouts i get done with this months kit and sharing so be sure to come back and check on my progress. I already have five layouts planned out and can't wait to get started.
